fix backup of module before it gets updated. the project['path'] was missing....

fix backup of module before it gets updated. the project['path'] was missing. also backup to a new backups directory before updating instead of immediately deleting the backup. the new directory is 0777. please suggest alternatives, since i'm not too expert in this area.
