- Patch #34214 by ax: 

   * xmlrpc_value_calculate_type() fails for empty arrays
   * PHPDoc for xmlrpc_value_calculate_type()
   * use is_*() instead of gettype() as advised in the PHP manual (and document this)
   * coding style
